Student, Peking University School of Transnational Law
Lining Zhang is a third year law student from the School of Transnational Law at Peking University in Shenzhen, China. She went directly from college to law school. In college, she majored in English, which was not her first choice, but ended up being an amazing one because English has become more than just a language to her. It has enabled her to connect with a world outside her own, to step outside her own country and her own self and look at the world from a different perspective. She has been amazed by how a story can end up very differently by listening to different voices without an assumption, which is part of the reason she enrolled at STL.
Lining values family and friendship very much, and considers herself lucky to be in STL because it is a team of pioneers. She enjoys working with her colleagues, her professors, and the administrative staff very much. The friendships that have developed between her and her colleagues are a major part of what got her through the tough times in law school and she knows these relationships will last for a lifetime.
