In-house Commercial Lawyer, Sage

Chontelle Wright is an in-house commercial lawyer for Sage, a FTSE 100 business software and services company headquartered in the North of England with offices in Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Chontelle originally joined Sage’s parent company, The Sage Group plc, as Group Solicitor and provided legal support to the plc company as well as the wider global business, working alongside colleagues in various jurisdictions. As Group Solicitor, Chontelle led a cross border legal project to draft and implement a global anti-bribery and corruption policy in 24 countries across the Group. Chontelle now supports the Sage UK and Irish business (which includes the payment processing business, Sage Pay) on all commercial legal matters including contracts, IT law, governance, data protection and intellectual property.

Before joining Sage, Chontelle trained and worked as a lawyer at Ward Hadaway, a top 100 law firm based in the North of England, in the company/commercial team. During her time at Ward Hadaway, Chontelle advised high profile private and public sector clients on a range of commercial legal matters and projects.

Chontelle completed a 4 year English and French Laws with French degree at Liverpool University which included spending a year completing a Licence en droit des affaires (French business law qualification) at l’université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne in Paris. In her spare time, Chontelle is a keen long distance runner and regularly takes part in running events. She also enjoys travelling and practising her language skills and spending time with friends and family.
