Geoffrey Weg
Student, New York Law School
Geoffrey Weg will be graduating from New York Law School (NYLS) in May 2012. His main focus is on working with early and late stage internet companies on product and business development, and on policy and strategic issues.
At NYLS, Geoffrey is concentrating in legal sector innovation, Internet Law, and Intellectual Property. He is a Harlan Scholar at NYLS's Institute for Information Law & Policy, and is an affiliate with the Center for Professional Values and Practice. He is an Alumni Scholar and a Harry Ostrov Scholarship recipient. He is the Web Editor of the New York Law School Law Review. And he is also a research assistant for Professor James Grimmelmann. Throughout law school, Geoffrey has worked with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the Center for Democracy and Technology, MasurLaw (a technology-focused law firm based in New York), and Justice John Leventhal (a New York State appellate court judge). Geoffrey currently sits on the board of NYLStartup. In the past, he has served as a student member of the Art Selection Committee, as Vice President of the Jewish Law Students Association, as Editor in Chief of De Novo (the online student newspaper), and as an Assistant Editor with the International Journal of Communications Law & Policy (a non-NYLS, professional journal).
Geoffrey received his Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration from Boston University's School of Management (BU) in 2008, where he concentrated in Entrepreneurship and Law. At BU, Geoffrey was an affiliate with the Institute for Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization. He was also Vice President of the Pre Law Society, and a Vice President, Treasurer, Rush Chair, and Philanthropy Chair of Alpha Epsilon Pi.
Geoffrey's current personal project is JusticeCollective.com, a platform where visitors can "fund and follow lawsuits that matter." He recently completed a law review Note on the topic, which explores the possibility of "crowdfunding" public interest litigation. He is an avid long-distance runner and a photography lover. He lives in New York, NY.
