Verónica Villarroya
Legal counsel, Barclays Bank Spain
Verónica Villarroya specializes in Mortgage law, Contract law and Commercial law. She provides legal advice to internal clients in Retail and Business Banking, including, product terms and conditions, drafting and negotiating outsourcing and commercial contracts and distance marketing of financial services, and has leaded several legal and regulatory change projects as project manager.
On 2010 she spent six months on secondment in the Western Europe Legal team, based at Barclays Bank Plc offices in London, whose main functions were identifying and managing legal risk across different jurisdictions. In that role, she had to work with colleagues in other parts of the business and Legal function in the UK, France, Italy, Spain and Portugal, in particular in relation to: legal principal risks, legal teams, regulatory change projects, product development, coordination of cross-jurisdictional legal projects and incident management.
Verónica has a degree in law by the University of Valencia and is a member of the Madrid Bar Association. In 2011 she was nominated to the Barclays Group Woman of the Year Awards as "Customer and Client Champion" and in 2012 she participated in Barclays’ women leadership development programme. She is also interested in literature and is currently participating in a seminar focused on conducting a research of poetic language.
