Lloyd Pearson is the founder of NovoLawyer, a global online lawyer search tool. Launched in August 2012, and designed for the fluid, globalized legal market, NovoLawyer highlights business lawyers around the world, with a focus on cross-border work. Using the unique search and refine filters, clients and others can find lawyers with specific combinations of practice, industry, and foreign expertise. Secondly, Lloyd is a partner in a small legal marketing consultancy. He helps law firms raise their profile among organizations that rank, analyze, measure and write about lawyers – directories, listings, surveys, awards, websites, magazines, publications – and related media and communications issues.
Although not a lawyer by training, Lloyd has worked in the legal sector for most of his career. He started in legal research and publishing, and helped to launch Chambers Global, a leading guidebook to international lawyers. After that, he spent five years in the marketing and public relations departments of two major law firms – Herbert Smith (London) and White & Case (New York) – before starting his consultancy in 2008. Lloyd’s areas of knowledge and interest are international and emerging legal markets, the business of law, legal directories, and legal marketing/communications.
Lloyd is based in the U.K, but has lived and worked in the United States and Australia, and traveled widely elsewhere. He studied political science at university in England, and in 2006 took some MBA credits in law firm economics and law firm marketing at Stony Brook University in New York.
