Michael Paranal

Student, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania

Michael Paranal is a three-year JD MBA candidate at the University of Pennsylvania. Before pursuing his dual degree at the University, he worked as an international Transfer Pricing Consultant at Deloitte-Los Angeles. He was part of the team that started Deloitte’s Transfer Pricing group in Orange County. After a couple of years, Michael became the Chief Financial Officer of Superior Lithographics, Inc. - a printing and publishing company headquartered in Los Angeles.

While in school, Michael was selected to intern at the Division of Legal Enforcement of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). He was later invited to work in the Capital Markets Group of the Washington D.C. office of the SEC. He represented Penn Law in the 2011 Global Forum on Financial Regulation in Frankfurt, Germany and was later selected to participate in the Annual Institute for Law and Economics Seminar.  With a Masters Degree in Business Taxation and Comparative Tax Policy and Administration from Harvard University, Michael went on to work in the Corporate & Securities Group for the London offices of Dechert LLP and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. Michael will be joining the Dechert office in London upon graduating in 2013.

Michael has been an advocate for children’s rights and was a court-appointed special advocate for abused and neglected children in California. In his spare time, he loves to sing and play the guitar. In fact, he enjoyed performing so much that he auditioned for Season 3 of American Idol.
