Juan Francisco Ortega Díaz specializes in contracts, intellectual property and cyberlaw. Currently Juan Francisco is Professor of Law at Los Andes Law School –Los Andes University- in Bogotá, Colombia. He is the author of several books about contracts, intellectual property and cyberlaw. His lastest research examines legal problems about digital signatures and corporative contracts. As a result, he published a book in December of 2011 titled “Contracts, notaries and digital signature. A harmonization proposal for Latin notaries”. He also directs the digital legal review “Revista de Derecho, Comunicaciones y nuevas tecnologías” (Law, Communications and New Technologies Review) (http://derechoytics.uniandes.edu.co)
In 2002 Juan Francisco obtained an Assistant Professor position and, in 2007, an Associate position at Salamanca University -Spain- where he has enjoyed a Ph.D Fellow (1998-2002). Focusing his research in the areas of Contract, Intellectual Property and Cyberlaw, Juan Francisco enjoyed a few important fellows (Fulbright Teaching Scholarship, 2005; Erasmus Teaching Scholarship 2006). In April of 2007, he was awarded with the European Award Charles V. Helmut Kohl Grants. Likewise, he spent a few semesters in several Europeans academic centers where he was called as invited professor (Iceland University, School of Law –Iceland-; Max Planck Institute (Munich, Germany). In the United States, he enjoyed several research stays at Harvard and Columbia University and Franklin Pierce Law Center. However, he has always felt a deep passion for Latin America where, as an invited professor, he has taught in more than ten universities.
Juan Francisco obtained a Law Degree, a Legal Research LLM and a Doctorate (PhD Special Award) at Salamanca University (2007), in Spain.
