Matt Evans

Student, University College London Faculty of Laws

Matt Evans is a postgraduate student at University College London, currently undertaking the LL.M. Having previously graduated in law from Cardiff University with First Class Honours, Matt decided to further his legal studies with a particular focus on issues of criminal procedure and access to justice.

While studying for his undergraduate degree, Matt also served as a case manager on the Innocence Project, a scheme that enables students to work on cases of prisoners who maintain their innocence. As part of this project, Matt oversaw and delegated the work of team members as well as raising awareness of the Innocence Project within the community through the creation of a project magazine and liaising with the Criminal Cases Review Commission. Additionally, teachers and fellow students elected him as Head Boy in his final year of school.

Originally from Cardiff, Wales, Matt is a keen sportsperson, playing in a number of football teams throughout university. He can often be found with a pair of running shoes on, having completed over ten half marathons and the Berlin marathon in September 2011 as well endurance events such as Tough Mudder, raising money for his chosen charities. He is also a guitarist and has completed studio recordings and performed regularly in multiple bands.
