Bashar Daher is a graduate student at the Faculty of Law of the Université de Montréal. He is specializing in Law & Technology and preparing a research paper to obtain his Master of Laws (LL.M.) by the end of 2013. Apart from his graduate studies, Bashar is an avid young entrepreneur that founded a multitude of new start-ups, which have received local and national recognition. One of his latest ventures, Patient In Line, a cutting edge technology platform for the medical field, received acknowledgment from Members of the Parliament of Canada, and was able to draw substantial investments from the Governments of Quebec and Canada.
Prior to his current admission at the Université de Montréal, he earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in Civil Law from the Université Laval in 2009. Furthermore, Bashar successfully completed his Bar Exams in 2010 and subsequently earned the Juris Doctor (JD) degree at Common Law at the University of Ottawa in 2011. He is very proud of his bilingual education and his “bijuridical” studies of the Civil Law and Common Law legal systems that found the basis of the Québec and Canadian system of justice. He also received several awards and prizes for his entrepreneurial implication. In fact, was recently designated laureate of the Quebec Entrepreneurship Contest for the local then regional divisions, and a finalist at the national level.
Alongside his interest in law, technology and entrepreneurship, Bashar has great interest in politics. He was selected in 2008 to participate in an international academical activity as a Judge on the Court of Justice of CIMAL in Cairo, Egypt and was then elected to preside the official delegation of his Alma mater, Université Laval, which participated in the 2010 edition of CIMAL at the American University in Cairo. Moreover, he was able to participate in a local pro-bono program offering legal help to citizens informing them on their rights and facilitating their conceptualization of their problem in regards of the rule of law. Lastly, Bashar is an outstanding basketball referee for school leagues in the Montréal area and a devoted basketball fan that participates in friendly leagues.
