Jorge Colón

Founder, The Online Bar

Jorge Colón is an entrepreneur in the global legal industry and the Founder of The Online Bar. The Online Bar is a global organization educating and training lawyers on the business of law. The Online Bar grew as a beta test to 3000 members in 30 countries and hosted its first live conference in 2011. It is re-launching this May 2012.

Prior to founding The Online Bar, Jorge organized and launched the law firm of Trainor, Colón and Rivera in Miami. Jorge was later privileged to experience a variety of legal roles at such companies as Whittman-Hart, American Media, NBC Universal(GE), Telemundo and Viacom International. He used these experiences in media & entertainment to test his hypothesis for decomposing legal process, converting tacit knowledge into explicit, and for managing and leading legal teams efficiently. These company positions provide Jorge with the opportunity to speak at international conferences, publish several media law articles, chapters in books, and two mini-books titled: “No More Debt” and “7 Steps to Financial Freedom,” which together had a distribution of 1.2 million copies.

Jorge grew up in London with an artist stepfather from Argentina, and a fashion designer mother, who invented the modern convertible dress. Before Jorge’s stepfather picked up a brush, he fulfilled a 500 year old family legacy of studying law. Loyal to his stepfather’s legacy, Jorge went to law school (at Georgetown) also with no expectation of practicing law. And he almost got away with it until the Chief Judge of a Federal Court honored Jorge by hiring him as a law clerk.
